general literature and science 145 Lectures are given in the first year on Euclid Arithmetic Algebra Trigonometry Mensuration and Elementary Mechanics and to the first division in Conic Sections and the Differential and Integral Calculus In the second and third years these subjects are continued together with Differential Equations Solid Geometry Newton's Principia Analytical Statics Dynamics Hydro- mechanics Spherical Trigonometry and Astronomy The Students of each year are divided into four Divisions according to their proficiency and in these Divisions they are arranged in order of merit at each Examination Prizes and Certificates -At the examination which takes place at the close of the Easter Term Prizes and Certi- ficates of Distinction and Merit are given to such Students as are in the opinion of the Examiners entitled to them -Physics Mechanics For Junior Students the Classes meet at 11 45 on Mondays Wednesdays Thursdays and Fridays II For Senior Students the Classes meet at 10 20 on Mondays Wednesdays and Thursdays and again at on Thursdays Occasional Students can attend with either Class or they may attend the Experimental Lectures only on Mondays and Thursdays at 11 45 and on Thursdays at The subjects of the Lectures in these classes are elementary and higher Mechanics Hydrostatics Pneumatics Heat and Light Electricity and Magnetism The Students of each year are divided into two divisions according to their proficiency and in these divisions are arranged in order of merit at each examination III For Third-year Students course of Demonstrations in the "Physical Laboratory is given on Fridays from 10 20 to 11 45 Other Students are admitted to this Class as occa- sional Students κ
