78 REPORT Department has been suppressed and in place of the office of Eesident Medical Tutor and Sub-Dean the office of Resident Medical Censor has been established to which Mr Short has been appointed The following distinctions have been obtained during the past year University of London Intermediate Μ Examination Wheatley James First Class Honours in Anatomy Lindow Albert Honours in Physiology Mariette Ernest Honours in Organic Chemistry Examination Crookshank Edgar Marsh Honours in Obstetric Medicine Dent Harry Honours in Obstetric Medicine -The Evening Classes are in satisfactory condition and have improved in numbers through the reduction of the fees Some few of the staff consider that lower class of students may be brought into the College through this cause but the majority accept the measure and all are willing to adopt any course leading to the general gain of the Institution The increase in numbers has not yet been sufficient to counterbalance the loss from the reduction in fees but thus far the result of the experiment has been promising -In the Civil Service Department the number of Students is as follows Male Classes 704 Female 236 940 There is thus decrease of 54 as compared with last year This is entirely due to the continued suspension of the Excise-one of the most important of the Civil Service Examinations At the date of the last Report this suspension
