the school 499 XVI SCHOLARSHIPS AND EXHIBITIONS general rules Good conduct and regular attendance at Chapel are indis- pensable for the admission of any Pupil to be candidate for Scholarship or Exhibition in King's College School II Every Scholarship and Exhibition is held subject to these conditions and is liable to forfeiture for misconduct III In case there should be no candidate of sufficient merit in any year the Scholarship of that year will not be awarded IV Pupil being absent from the School for any Term and being permitted to resume his attendance cannot be allowed to count the Terms which he has already kept towards the number necessary for any Prize Scholarship or Exhibition or for the Associateship of the College unless he notifies his absence with the cause thereof to the Head Master either beforehand or at latest at the beginning of the Term in which he is intending to be absent and obtains his sanction to such absence in writing In all Scholarships and Exhibitions in which the rules as to payment require attendance at any College or Univer- sity continuous residence or attendance is required and if such attendance be omitted in any Term or Session the Scholarship or Exhibition will be forfeited unless the Scholar or Exhibitioner notifies his absence with the causes thereof to the Council either beforehand or at the latest at the beginning of the Term he is intending to be absent and forwards certificate of sanction to such absence from the Head of his College or the proper University authority VI The payments for the Inglis Forest and Mathematical Scholarships and for the Sambrooke Exhibitions are made in Terminal instalments at the end of each Term beginning with the Michaelmas Term after the election provided that the Scholar has entered either one of the Departments of King's College London or at the Universities of Oxford or 112
