334 DEPARTMENT FOR LADIES The academical year extends from October to the end of the first week of July with vacation of three weeks at Christmas and about fortnight at Easter Students are usually admitted after the age of 16 but younger students may attend with the special sanction of the Principal Written Examinations are held at the conclusion of each Term but attendance at such Examinations is voluntary Certificates will be given to those students who have attended regularly and passed Examinations satisfactorily for three terms These terms should be consecutive but breaks may be allowed on due cause shown The students passing will be arranged in three classes and no student will be classed or certificate given unless at least half marks be attained in the Examination Diplomas will be awarded to students who after attending at least four subjects week during two years have passed all Examinations in the 1st or 2nd class In these subjects at least one course of Religious study should be included un less exemption from this rule be requested by Parents and allowed by the Principal These directions are intended for the guidance of those who have sufficient time for the continuous study of one or more subjects but the Committee desire it to be understood that any course of lectures may be attended for single term the tickets being issued each term The foil owing Lectures will be given during the ensuing year subject to occasional modifications Lectures on the Christian Creed and its Evidences are given by the Principal at dates announced each Term These are free to all students other ladies are admitted at the usual fee
