MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 319 Post-mortem Clerk There shall be two Postmortem Clerks lected by examination every six months who shall act under he direction of the Pathological Registrar House Surgeons No Student is eligible to enter on the uties of this office at period later than six years from the ate of his Matriculation or year of standing see page 265 the Medical Department He shall at the date at 1rhich his duties commence be Member of British ollege of Surgeons and shall have served to the satisfaction the Surgeons the offices of Out and In-Patient Dresserfor he full period of six months each The viva voce examination shall be chiefly in Anatomy nd the application of Surgical Apparatus Bandages &c he written examination in Surgery and Materia Medica eluding Toxicology The House Surgeon shall visit the surgical wards daily etween 10 and 12 15 o'clock in the morning accompany the iurgeon during his visit and prescribe under his direction hall see such patients in the evening as he may think neces- ary and shall be responsible for the proper management and Iressing of all the surgical cases The instruments and surgical tpparatus shall be in his charge and he shall make Monthly leport of their condition to the Medical Committee He shall uperintend the necessary preparations for and be present it all operations He shall give early notice of all important perations to the medical officers by filling up and transmit -ing the printed forms prepared for that purpose and shall end regular notice to the College of such operations and of he Surgical Clinical Lectures such notices to be forwarded the earliest possible moment to the porter of the Anatomi- al Department In the event of the death of patient in the Surgical Wards he shall send immediate notice to the Surgeon under whose care the patient was admitted and to the Pathological Registrar
