398 WORKSHOP EVENING CLASSES The Course will include CARPENTRY The prop use Tool th Scarf Mortice and Dovetail Joints th djustment making principles of Frame Work Construction of model Roofs and Bridges and Moulders' Patte fo General Machinery and Wheel the various forms of Teeth TURNING In soft and hard Woods and in Ivory-methods of chucking and preparing work for the Lathe IRON WORK The use of the Hammer and Chisel the File and Scraping Tools to produce Surface the Whitworth method Fit- ting Gear Work and General Machinery the use of the Screw Cutting Lathe and Planing Machine Students are encouraged to make for themselves Lathes and smalt Engines up to five or seven inches diameter of Cylinder They are also made acquainted with the construction of modern Land and Marine Engines and the practical use of the Indicator SMITH WORK Students are taught to make and temper Chisels Drill Turning tools to weld ht foi and Steel to produce This shop is provided with two Forges and ell-selected stock of Tools CASTING IN BRASS AND IRON Th Found is furnished th Cupol Brass Furnaces two Drying-stones and other suitable appointments for complete course of instruction in Foundry work and for producing the lighter class cf Castings
