APPLIED SCIENCES 209 view of ascertaining that they are sufficiently advanced to enable them to take advantage of the College classes The Principal and Professors have the power of sending back for time any who may be considered disqualified for admission II One Freake Exhibition of £20 and two College Exhi- bitions of £15 each and two of £10 each will be given in October 1884 to the Students who pass the best Examinations on entering this Department See page 216 III The regular work of the Term will begin on Thursday October Thursday January 15 and Thursday April 16 on which days all old Students must be present at 10 unless special leave of absence is obtained beforehand from the Principal IV The Council require that Half-term's notice be given to the Secretary in writing of the removal of Student from the College This notice must be given before the close of the first half of the Term in which Student is to leave and if not so given the payments of Half Term's fees will be required In 1884-85 the Half-terms will end on November February 16 and May 23 The Students received into this Department are Matriculated Students or those admitted to the regular and full prescribed course of srudy Each Candidate for Matriculation must produce testi- monial of good character from his last instructor and when admitted by the Principal he must subscribe his name to declaration that he will conform to all the rules and regulations which may from time to time be prescribed for the good government of the College under the sanction and authority of the Council Special Certificate is required in the case of Pupils coming up from the School See School page 466 Except by the special permission of the Principal no one
