WORKSHOP EVENING CLASSES 385 to five or seven inches diameter of Cylinder They are also ide acquainted with the construction of modern Land and arine Engines and the practical use of the Indicator SMITH WORK Students are taught to make and temper Chisels Drills Turning tools to weld Iron and Steel and to produce ht forgings This shop is provided with two Forges and -selected stock of Tools casting in brass and iron The Foundry is furnished with Cupola two Brass irnaces two Drying-stones and other suitable appointments complete course of instruction in Foundry work and for oducing the lighter class of Castings The Classes are conducted by Mr David Walker Super- tendent of the College Workshop who has had fifteen jars' practical experience as Foreman in the employ of essrs Maudsley Sons and Field He is assisted by skilled 1-kmen in each department The hours of attendance are from 30 to on Tuesday id Thursday evenings Fee £2 2s per term of about twelve weeks payable in Ivance in the College office Further information may be obtained from the Superin- indent at the Workshop 01 01 011 118י PRIZES Prize of £5 in Books for Metal Work and similar rize for Wood-work is given every year by the Cloth- orkers' Company at the close of the Summer Session to the tudent who has worked for the three preceding Terms in 16 Workshop during the evening and has exhibited the reatest proficiency Β
