EVENING SCHOOL OF PRACTICAL ART 381 The instruction is based upon the systematic course lopted by all Art Schools and Classes in connection with Science and Art Department of the Commissioners of ouncil on Education together with such subjects in the cience course of the Department as have bearing upon ractical Art All the works of the Students are annually submitted to official Examiners of the Department and Prizes awarded dien notable industry and progress is shown Prizes are also awarded in the Art Examination April and ertificates in the Science Examination in May Students can compete for Free-Studentships and Scholar- hips as well as for admission to the Training Class for Lrt Masters at South Kensington The Three Divisions of the School of Practical Art will e- -The Elementary The Course will consist of Freehand and Model Drawing Dlane Geometry Solid Geometry Perspective and Isometrical Drojection Drawing details of Ornament and Colouring from Examples Building and Machine Construction Projection of Shadows &c -Advanced Drawing from the Cast in Outline and Light and Shade η Pencil Chalk Water Colour Tempera and Oil Ornament ind the Figure in Detail and Complete Painting in Mono- 3hrome and Colours from Examples Casts or Objects arranged as Compositions of Form in Colour or Light and Shade and Building and Machine Construction in Detail and Complete from Examples and Models -Practical application of Art and Design The Practice will consist of Exercises with individual instruction in Drawing on Wood on Stone on Copper Etching Engraving Drawing and Painting on Porcelain Modelling Designing Wall and Furniture Decorations Details of Decorative Construction generally and the general applica- cation of Ornament to various materials and manufactures
