MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 305 The viva voce examination shall be chiefly in Anatomy id the application of Surgical Apparatus Bandages &c le written examination in Surgery and Materia Medica eluding Toxicology The House Surgeon shall visit the surgical wards daily etween 10 and 12 15 o'clock in the morning accompany the urgeon during his visit and prescribe under his direction 1all see such patients in the evening as he may think neces- iry and shall be responsible for the proper management and ressing of all the surgical cases The instruments and surgical pparatus shall be in his charge and he shall make Monthly eport of their condition to the Medical Committee He shall jperintend the necessary preparations for and be present all operations He shall give early notice of all important perations to the medical officers by filling up and transmit ng the printed forms prepared for that purpose and shall 2nd regular notice to the College of such operations and of se Surgical Clinical Lectures such notices to be forwarded the earliest possible moment to the porter of the Anatomi- Department In the event of the death of patient in the urgical Wards he shall send immediate notice to the Surgeon rider whose care the patient was admitted and to the athological Registrar In the case of the absence of Professor Lister's House- urgeon his duties shall devolve on such one of the Surgical linical Clerks as shall be selected bv Professor Lister but case of special difficulty it shall be his duty to call in the ervices of the other House Surgeon Assistant House Surgeon -The subjects of the examination this office is the same as that required for the office of Louse Surgeon This Officer will not reside in the Hospital He shall supply the place of Professor Wood's and Professor mith's House Surgeon during his necessary absence and ssist him when required except at such times as he is in ttendance upon the Surgeon to Out-Patients He shall
