236 MEDICAL DEPARTMENT The Lectures are illustrated by Preparations Drawings Models and such experiments as are calculated to elucidate the functions of the Digestive Circulatory Respirator Nervous and Muscular systems together with those of the Sense-organs During the Course all the tissues of the body are demon- strated with the aid of the microscope Practical Physiology This Course which occupies the Summer Session em braces Practical Histology and the Elements of Experimental Physiology ן The Students are carefully instructed in all details relating to the use of the Microscope and the various methods necessary for histological research Each Student is required himself to perform the manipulations necessary for the study of the normal tissues of the animal body and must prepare mount examine and describe specimens under the immediate supervision of the Professor and the Demon- strators Every Student must provide himself with set of the minor accessory instruments All the other apparatus microscope and material arc supplied in the Laboratory ibr which charge of 11 Is is made Physiological Laboratory -Every facility is afforded to any Student who wishes to undertake private work in the Histological or Physiological Laboratories and special arrange- ments may be made for original research or private in- vestigation Practical Biology During the Winter and Summer Sessions Michaelmas Lent and Easter Terms Class is held in this subject in the Physiological Laboratory The Students are exercised in the various methods of investigating the Structure and Life History of the forms of animal and vegetable life It is intended that this Course shall fully comprehend all the theoretical knowledge and manual dexterity required for the
