JT applied sciences 193 orming minerals The Lectures will relate to the last eological epoch its comparison with the existing state of hings and will include instruction regarding Water Supply md Soils One-half of each Lecture is devoted to the study ind microscopic demonstration of rock and rock-making minerals The "Tennant" prize for Geology is given in connexion with the examinations in this Class at the end of the Easter Term See page 214 Mineralogy -For Students of the First Year every Saturday at 10 20 in the Michaelmas and Lent Terms These Lectures treat of the elements of Crystallography the crystalline forms of the rock-making minerals their optical and physical phenomena the Classification of minerals and blowpipe analysis The Tennant" prize for Practical Mineralogy is open to Students of this Class See page 214 Geology Palceontology and Mining -For Students of the First Year Michaelmas and Lent Terms Saturday 11 30 12 30 This course comprises about Twenty Lectures upon the principles of Geology and Palaeontology and is delivered with the view of preparing the Students of the First Year for the Advanced Course The following subjects are taught -formation of rock masses succession of life-types theory of geological era& classification of the primary and secondary strata with their characteristic fossils and geological mapping The examination on these lectures takes place at the end of the Lent Term 11 The Art and Scientific Principles of Photography The course of instruction in Photography is theoretical and practical in those branches which are deemed most generally useful to Students in the Department of Applied Sciences Besides instruction in the ordinary process of Photography with the Nitrate of Silver bath the practical work embraces the preparation of pyroxoline of collodion Ν
