58 ANNUAL REPORT At the Second Examination Baddeley Charles Honours in Medicine Dalton Norman Honours in Medicine and in Forensic Medicine At the Society of Apothecaries Vann Alfred Mason Silver Medal in Botany Indian Medical Service Sedgefield Arthur Placed Second in the List of Candidates Robert Wyatt for Commissions as Surgeons No changes have taken place in the Staff of the Hospital since the last Annual Report but with view to develop the value of the Anatomical Museum for teaching purposes and in other ways the Council on the recommendation of the Medical Board have decided to appoint jCurator and have selected Dr Heneage Gibbes for this office In order further to encourage and promote the preliminary education of Medical Students in Science and General Litera- ture the Council have appropriated £100 year from the Sambrooke bequest for the foundation of two Scholarships- one of £60 and one of £40 open to competition annually by Medical Students at the commencement of their studies The Council are gratified to find that the Committee of Management of King's College Hospital have now been able to throw open all the Resident Hospital Appointments to Matriculated Students free of any charge for Board and Lodging so that these appointments may now be regarded as substantial prizes for competition amongst them -The Evening Class work has gone on much as usual the numbers nearly the same and the general character of the work unaltered except by the addition of Course on Metallurgy The School of Practical Art under Professor Glenny belongs mainly to the Evening work although it is not an integral part of the Evening Class system The result of the Government Examination was satisfactory 13 Prizes and 16 Certificates
