- general literature and science 137 In each hour there will be two Divisions Senior and Junior for Latin and Greek and four Divisions for Mathe- matics The Senior French and German Classes are held from 15 to 15 and the Junior from 15 to 15 Students wishing to attend Junior French or German as well as Drawing may obtain by special application to the Professor of Geometrical Drawing leave to attend Drawing from 15 or 15 They can attend Freehand and Model or Geometrical Drawing for four hours in the week or both Classes for two hours each The Natural Philosophy on Monday and Thursday at 11 45 is an Experimental Course for First Year Students The Chemistry on Saturday is short and separate Course by the Demonstrator quite distinct from that given on Tuesdays and Fridays Practical Chemistry is attended in the Second Year instead of Lectures on this subject VII en&ofoeij rofessorsijtps -Professorship of the Chinese Language and Literature This Professorship was founded by means of Subscriptions given by Sir Staunton Bart and others in the year 1846 for the purpose of encouraging the study in this country of the Language and Literature of China The Professorship is held for Five Years II -Tooke Professorship of Economic Science and Statistics Founded in 1859 in honour of the personal character of and the eminent services rendered to Science by the late Thomas Tooke Esa of Spring Gardens Charing Cross who died on the 26th of February 1858 The duties attaching to this Chair are given in the following extract from the Deed of Settlement
