5 ANNUAL report At the Preliminary Scientific and First Sc Examination Vann Alfred Mason First in First Class Honours in Botany Hill George William Second in First Class Honours in Botany Short Thomas Sydney Honours in Botany Merrifield Sydney Honours in Zoology At the First Examination Chookshank Edgar Exhibition and Gold Medal in Anatomy Maddison William First Class Honours in Materia Medica and Pharmaceutical Chemistry At the Second Examination Taylor Harold Gold Medal in Forensic Medicine Honours in Medicine and Honours in Obstetric Medicine The Council regret to announce that Mr Denis McDon- nell Student who was referred to in the last report as having obtained honours at the University of London and who had distinguished himself at the College and was generally esteemed by his fellow Students has died through an injury incurred during the execution of his duties as Assistant House Physician at King's College Hospital The Council have gladly acceded to the request of the Medical Board that Tablet with an appropriate inscription be placed in the College Chapel to his memory The vacancy in the Chair of Comparative Anatomy referred to in the last report has been filled by the appoint- ment of Mr Jeffrey Bell of the Zoological Depart- ment in the British Museum gentleman who has already done good work in his special department of Science The principal change that has taken place in the Staff has been caused by the death of Mr Soelberg Wells who was well known as distinguished Ophthalmic Surgeon Mr Soelberg Wells honourably discharged the duties of Professor
