376 WORKSHOP EVENING CLASSES smith work Students are taught to make and temper Chisels Drills and Turning tools to weld Iron and Steel and to produce light forgings This shop is provided with two Forges and well-selected stock of Tools casting in brass and iron The Foundry is furnished with Cupola two Brass Furnaces two Drying-stones and other suitable appointments for complete course of instruction in Foundry work and for producing the lighter class of Castings The Classes are conducted by Mr David Walker intendent of the College Workshop who has had fifteen years' practical experience as Foreman in the employ of Messrs Maudsley Sons and Field He is assisted by skilled workmen in each department The hours of attendance are from 30 to on Tuesday and Thursday evenings Fees £2 2s per term of about twelve weeks payable in advance in the College office Further information may be obtained from the Superin- tendent at the Workshop CL0THW0RKERS PRIZES Prize of £5 in Books for Metal-work and similar Prize for Wood-work is given every year by the Cloth- workers' Company at the close of the Summer Session to the Student who has worked for the three preceding Terms in the Workshop during the evening and has exhibited the greatest proficiency Prizemen 1879 Brown Joseph Henry ן 1880 Chapman George James For Metal Work' Dwelly Thomas Edward ΛΪΓ ΛΛΤ Williams Frank Phillip rk
