50 EVENING CLASSES Questions proposed in writing by the Students will be answered Students will thus be enabled to clear up diffi- culties they encounter in their private reading Questions will be from time to time put to the Students for viva voce answers in Class Examination papers will be from time to time set for the students to answer at home and their answers corrected and returned to them -As soon as the above Class is in working order similar Class in preparation for the Final Examination will be established 32 -HARMONY Day and Hour of Attendance-Wednesday from to The course will be arranged in accordance with the requirements of the University of London Syllabus The Nature of Musical Harmony the Preliminary Studies necessary the Succession of Sounds forming the Scale the Alphabet of all Music Vocal and Instrumental the Succession of Intervals The various Scales in Use Diatonic Major and Minor Chromatic Enharmonic Nomenclature of the Degrees of the Diatonic Scale without Reference to its Pitch Combination of Sounds forming Chords Intervals involved in this Combination leading to the Classification of Chords the Two Methods of Analysing and naming Intervals as they are Related to the Scale or to the Stave to the Ear or to the Eye the Two Channels of Musical Sense The Normal Scale the Terms Scale and Key' Trans- position the Order of Scales or Keys their Connection as Melodies their Identity and Differences Modulation Intervals their Division into Two kinds according to tne contents of each ×™ ×™
