280 MEDICAL DEPARTMENT He shall unless specially exempted by the Committee of the Hospital reside in the Hospital Students are not eligible lor examination lor this ofTice at period later than live years and half from the time of their Matriculation in the Medical Department Candidates may be admitted to examination for this office before they have obtained their diplomas to practice medicine but will not be allowed to enter upon their duties until such diplomas have been obtained Out-Patient Dressers -There shall be eighteen Out-Patient Dressers six for each Assistant-Surgeon They shall have attended diligently six months' Surgical Practice The rird voce examination shall be principally in Anatomy the written examination principally in Surgery including also writing Prescriptions in both cases having particular refe- rence to the nature of Out Patient Surgery They shall attend punctually on the days of the Surgeon under whom they may be serving for the purpose of dressing patients in the Surgery and registering the patients under the direction of the Surgeon or Assistant Surgeon in attendance Surgeon Dentist's Assistants -There shall be two Surgeon Dentist's Assistants elected by examination in Dentistry from among those Pupils wrho shall have attended with regularity the Dental Practice of the Hospital These appointments are open to Students studying for the Dental Diploma of the College of Surgeons as well as to Matriculated Students They shall serve for Six Months shall attend regularly at the hours appointed and act under the direction of the Surgeon Dentist In-Patient Dressers -There shall be twelve In-Patient Dressers four for each Surgeon Candidates must have filled the office of Out-Patient Dresser and have attended six months' In-Patient Clinical practice In addition to the above In-Patient Dresser Professor Wood appoints Senior Dresser from amongst his own Dressers as reward for assiduity and skill Lil
