applied sciences 197 general library The Engineering section of the Library contains large number of Standard Works which treat especially on the subjects taught in this Department to these the Students are referred by the Professors during the course of Lectures and they have the opportunity of perusing them in the Library in the intervals between the Lectures or of taking them home for limited period subject to the Rules and Regulations stated on page 461 Fee for admission of Occasional Students 10s Qd per term or Ā£1 Is per annum XI engineering society Patrons the principal prof adams prof rev drew kerr asst prof rev heywood tennant rev cock glenny prof shelley This Society was formed in the Lent Term 1847 by the Students in the Applied Sciences Department for the pur- pose of reading papers on Scientific subjects and discussing questions thus brought forward For this purpose meetings are held every Friday afternoon during Term Scientific Periodicals and books on Engineering subjects are taken in for the use of Members of the Society The Officers are elected terminally Matriculated Students alone being eligible On joining the Society each Member signs his name to declaration that he will conform strictly to any rules and regulations which may be made from time to time lor the good of the Society
