applied sciences 167 Advanced Students will proceed "to apply their know- ledge of construction to architectural design will receive instruction in the elements and principles of the ornament suitable to the building and the leading features of the various historic styles of ornament the projection of shadows colouring and finishing the drawings and perspective view of the design Engineering Drawing -Working drawings for Foundations Earth Works Walls and Abutments Stone Girder Tubular and Suspension Bridges and the Framing and Trussing of Timber and Temporary Bridges General Railway works Permanent Way Sidings Crossings Switches Turntables and their various details Embankments Cuttings Tunnels Bridges Stations Workshops &c Harbours Lighthouses Docks Canals Methods of Colouring Projection of Shadows Perspective and Isometric projections of the works Mechanical Drawing The application of the Involute Cycloidal Epicycloidal and Hypocycloidal Curves to the Teeth of Wheels Projection of Screws Spur Worm Bevil Skew Bevil Morticed Drum Cog and Fly-wheels Rack and Pinion Jam Heart and Tappit Wheels Plans Elevations and Sec- tions of Locomotive and Marine Engines and Stationary Engines for various purposes with their details and Draw- ings to scale of Models in the Museum or Machines in the Workshop It will be seen by the above outline of the course that Students are encouraged to make careful and accurate working drawings directly bearing on the subjects in which they receive instruction in Section Arts of Construction and in Section Manufacturing Art and Machinery Occasional Students may take up any branch of the Course which they may wish to follow free-hand drawing From copies in Outline Shaded and from Nature Landscape Drawing Model Drawing &c
