1 ANNUAL REPORT account shows an improvement and an opportunity is thus given of writing off good sum from the heavy amount due for new Buildings This debt must for many years press heavily on the College but it is satisfaction to the Council that it is being surely if slowly liquidated The following gentlemen have since the last Beport been added to the list of Honorary Fellows Brewer John Sherman For 38 years member of the Staff first as Lecturer in Classical Literature then as Lecturer and finally as Professor in English Literature and Modern History afterwards Rector of Toppesfield Fisher Osmond Formerly Student Late Fellow and Tutor of Jesus College Cambridge Wrangler in 1841 Eaton John Richard Turner Formerly Student Late Fellow and Tutor of Merton College Oxford First Class in Classics 1845 Whyte's Professor of Moral Philosophy 1874-77 Rollit Albert Kate LL and Lond Formerly Pupil Gold Medallist in Law Univ of Lond 1866 Registrar of Hull County Court The Council have again to congratulate the Court on Report which they trust will be considered as eminently satisfactory to express their confidence that the College is now doing in all its various Departments efficient and valuable work and their hope that under God's blessing it may be continually enabled to extend that work and thus to meet the increasing needs and opportunities of the future
