ANNUAL REPORT G3 The Head Master is able to report satisfactory state of discipline generally in the School and to express his deep sense of the earnest desire shown on the part of his Assistant- Masters to work willingly and harmoniously to promote the education of those committed to their charge The Principal is happy to be able to extend that testimony to all the various Departments of the work of the Institution II In relation to the Second part of their Report the Council have again but little to announce beyond the record given above of the quiet and steady work of the various Departments of the College They have however to report that having regard to the frequent applications for additional Class room referred to in their last Report they have carried out under the advice of Mr Salter an extensive addition to the College Buildings being in fact the placing of an Upper Story on the Eastern Side of the North Wing of the College This addition the cost of which will amount to between 000i and 000Z will enable them to provide very fine Drawing School amply sufficient for all purposes of instruction besides one large and two smaller Class rooms and thus to relieve the pressure so long felt both in the College and in the School The work is now complete and the new Rooms will be occupied after the Easter recess It may be added that it will be com- paratively easy to extend the work and secure even larger accommodation should the necessity for so doing arise at any future time The Earl of Derby has resigned his place among the Life Governors and the Council have to announce that the Visitor of the College has announced his intention of appointing to the place thus vacated the Right Hon Smith who has long been member of the Council and to whose valuable co-operation and liberal support the College is deeply indebted The Council are happy to be able to report that the financial statement of the last year is unusually good Nearly every
