MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 265 No one holding the office of Physician-Accoucheur's Assis- tant or Assistant House Accoucheur is on any occasion to make post-mortem examination Rules for Students attending Midwifery cases at King's College Hospital Students attending cases of labour are divided into Regular and Non-regular attendants Three Regular attendants are appointed by the Physician- Accoucheur from Students who have completed one course of Midwifery Lectures they hold office for one month during which time they must reside within half mile of the Hos- pital They act under the guidance of the Resident-Accoucheur with whom they must leave their address on commencing duty Any Student is eligible for appointment second time limited number of Students may have their names entered as Non-regular attendants in book kept by the Resident-Accoucheur who allots cases to them but preference in allotment will be given to the Regular attendants It is the duty of the Regular attendants and in their absence or engagement of the Non-regular attendants to go immediately on being summoned to all cases of labour occurring during their respective period of office Every Student will be held personally responsible for every case that has been consigned to him Every attendant must visit his patients for four con- secutive days after delivery and continue his attendance as frequently and as long as the urgency of the case may require Every attendant must fill up the patient's card and deliver it to the Resident-Accoucheur within fortnight after labour When any deviation from normal labour or con- valescence occurs concise report must be sent in to the Resident-Accoucheur within fortnight after his cessation of attendance
