MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 263 send regular notice to the College of such operations and of the Surgical Clinical Lectures such notices to be forwarded at the earliest possible moment to the porter of the Anatomi- cal Department In the event of the death of patient in the Surgical Wards he shall send immediate notice to the Surgeon under whose care the patient was admitted and to the Pathological Registrar In the case of the absence of Professor Lister's House- Surgeon his duties shall devolve on such one of the Surgical Clinical Clerks as shall be selected by Professor Lister but in case of special difficulty it shail be his duty to call in the services of the other House Surgeon Assistant Rouse Surgeon -The subjects of the examination fur this office is the same as that required for the office of House Surgeon This Officer will not reside in the Hospital but he is per- nutted to board at the Hospital on payment of the sum of 20 before entering upon the duties of his office He shall supply the place of Professor Wood's and Professor Smith's House Surgeon during his necessary absence and assist him when required except at such times as he is in attendance upon the Surgeon to Out-Patients He shall make chemical and microscopical examinations and shall be responsible for all instruments and apparatus entrusted to his care He shall attend in the Out-patient depart- ment at one o'clock daily and remain thereuntil all the Out- Patients have been seen shall occupy separate desk and see such patients as are allotted to him by the Surgeon in attendance shall take charge of the instruments in the Out-Patient department and superintend the dressing and instruct the Out-Patient Dressers in their duties He shall also see that the Surgery is kept in good order Candidates for this office must have filled the office of Dresser to Out-Patients and are not eligible for examination later than five years and half from the date of their Matricu- lation in the Medical Department Candidates may be admitted to examination for this office
