CHAPEL RESTORATION FUND COMMITTEE From tht Council The Lord Bi hop of London Chairman The Earl of Harrowhy The Rt Hon Gladstone William Bowman Esq From the Ci Urqt Staff The Rev Barry Professor Beale Cunnineham Esq Professor John on Ml Rer Prof Plnmptre From Old Students Dr Arlidge Georpe Austen Esq 11 Bolton Erq Ε Bowen Esq Rev Canon Farrar Rev Lance Dr Laviee Henrv Lee Esq It Mackav Esq Rev Cowlev Powles Stur es Esq Rev Henrv White Rev 'Wood 1877 The Committee announced in the Calendar for 1873 that it had been ascertained that the expense of finishing the Chapel in accordance with Sir Gilbert Scott's original designs and of completing the Organ satisfactorily would be £3 300 The following works have since been carried out at an actual cost of £2 250 The completion of the Organ The decoration of tbe Semi-dome The erection of the Reredos The entire remainder of the Wood-carving The Capitals on the Columns The removing of the front row of Stalls to the bottom of the Chapel and the erection of Canopies over them The opening of small window on each side of the Organ The decoration of the walls The debt owing to the Bankers for these works on July 1877 was £950 There now remain the ornamentation of the front of the apse and of the remainder of the chapel and the general com- pletion of the whole which will cost an additional sum of £1 000 With these objects in view they venture still to appeal to the liberality of the members and friends of the College especially of those who have not yet contributed to the Chapel Improvement Fund Contributions will be received by the Rev Ε Plumptre and Cunningham Esq Honorary Secretaries or may be paid to the account of the King's College Chapel Restoration Fund at Messrs Coutts and Co 's Post-Office Orders should be made payable to John William Cunningham at the Strand Office
