civil service evening classes 347 SMITH WORK Students are taught to make and temper Chisels Drills and Turning tools to weld Iron and Steel and to produce light forgings This shop is provided with two Forges and well-selected stock of Tools CASTING IN BRASS AND IRON The Foundry is furnished with Cupola two Brass Furnaces two Drying-stones and other suitable appointments for complete course of instruction in Foundry work and for producing the lighter class of Castings The Classes are conducted by Mr David Walker Super- intendent of the College Workshop who has had fifteen years' practical experience as Foreman in the employ of Messrs Maudsley Sons and Field He is assisted by skilled workmen in each department The hours of attendance are from 30 to on Tuesday and Friday evenings Fees £2 2s per term of about twelve weeks payable in advance in the College office Further information may be obtained from the Superin- tendent at the Workshop III CIVIL SERVICE CLASSES Under the General Direction of Mr Braginton "LOWER DIVISION" OF THE CIVIL SERVICE Men Clerks MR BRAGINTON and MR WOOD Each course of preparation is commenced about month after the preceding examination and lasts until the following examination Fee for first period of the course £1 5s for each sub- sequent period of the same course £1 10s for the first two periods £2 10s Each Period consists of weeks
