general literature and science 23 The Endowment arises from the Interest on 250 per cent perpetual Debenture Stock of the London and North Western Railway Company and the due delivery of the minimum Course of Twenty Lectures in each year is condition absolute of the Endowment without any reference whatever to further payments from fees The tenure of the Tooke Professorship is for Five Years The Professor is eligible for re-election but such re-eligi- bility is not in any way to interfere with the public announce- ment of the vacancy III -Gilbart Lecturership on Banking Founded 1872 by the Trustees of the Will of James William Gilbaet Esq for the purpose of providing an Endowment for an Annual Course of Lectures on the subject of Banking The duties attached to this Lecturership are given in the following extract from the Deed of Settlement And it is hereby also agreed and declared that the said Governors and Proprietors and their successors will cause course of Lectures not exceeding six and not less than four in number on the subject of Banking to be delivered at King's College in Lon- don by competent Lecturer or competent Lec- turers in the year of our Lord 1872 and in each succeeding year for ever between the 1st day of January and the 30th day of June in each year and between the hours of six o'clock and nine o'clock in the evening admission to which Lectures shall be open gratuitously to all persons willing to attend the same and to conform to such reasonable regula- tions regarding their behaviour and otherwise as the said Governors and Proprietors shall think proper and will cause such Lectures to be an- nounced to the public by advertisement in the public newspapers and by other usual methods
