general literature and science 113 VI EXTRA INSTRUCTION Instruction is also given in Italian and in several of the Oriental languages hut these are all independent of the regularly prescribed Courses The Fees together with the names of the Professors will be found at page 119 VII REGULATIONS RESPECTING STUDENTS The days for the admission of new Students in the Aca- demical Year 1877-78 are Tuesday October Wednesday January 16 and Wednesday April 24 An examination of all new Students takes place on their joining the College with the view of ascertaining that they are sufficiently advanced to enable them to take advantage of the College classes The Principal and Professors have the power of sending back for time any who may be considered disqualified for admission The Mathematical subjects are Euclid Books II Arith- metic and Elementary Algebra including simple Equations The examination in Classics will be in Grammar and in passages to be translated from Standard Greek and Latin authors also an easy passage for translation from English into Latin prose II One Exhibition of £40 and two of £30 all given by the College and one of £20 given by Freake Esq will be awarded to the Students who pass the best examination on entering this Department in October 1877 provided they are under seventeen years of age on the day Term begins See page 127
