CHAPEL RESTORATION FUND COMMITTEE From OU Council from Old StudtnU The Lord Bishop of London Chairman Dr Arlldge The Earl ot llairowby George Austen Esq The Kt lion Gladstone JI Λν 11 Bolton Esq Ε Ε How-en Esq William Bowman Ιίβν Cnnon Farrar ן Rev Lance From the Cijl-ai Staff Dr Lavies Henrv Lee Esq The Rev Barrv Mackay Esq Professor Beale St Kev Cowley Powles Cunnintrham Esq Sturpes sr flir FerRusson Bart Kev Henry White Professor Johnson Ml Rev Wood Rev Prof Plumptre Jl 187 The Committee announced in the Calender for 1873 that it had been ascertained that the expense of finishing the Chapel in accordance with Mr Scott's original desisns and of com- pleting the Organ satisfactorily would be £3 300 The following works have since been carried out at an actual cost of £2 50 The completion of the Organ The decoration of the S1 1ni-dome The erection of the teredos The entire remainder of the Wood-carving The Capitals on the Columns The removing of the front row of Stalls to the bottom of the Chapel and the erection of Canopies over them The opening ofa small window on each side of the Organ The decoration of the walls The debt owing to the Bankers for these works on July 1876 was £1 200 There now remain tbe ornamentation of tbe front of the apse and of the remainder of the chapel and the general com- pletion of the whole which will cost an additional sum of £1 000 With these objects in view they venture still to appeal to the liberality of the members and friends of the College especially of those who have not yet contributed to the Chapel Improvement Fund Contributions will be received by the Ε Plumptre and Cunningham Esq Honorary Secretaries or may be paid to the account of the King's College Chapel Restoration Fund at Messrs Coutts and Co 's Post-Office Orders should be made payable to John William Cunningham at the Strand Office
