262 MEDICAL DEPARTMENT Every attendant must visit his patients for four con- secutive days after delivery and continue his attendance as frequently and as long as the urgency of the case may require Every attendant must fill up the patient's card and deliver it to the Resident-Accoucheur within fortnight after labour When any deviation from normal labour or con- valescence occurs concise report must be sent in to the Resident-Accoucheur within fortnight after his cessation of attendance In cases of labour lasting more than six hours after rupture of the membranes in cases in which the pulse rises to 100 per minute in all cases of premature labour in cases in which the placenta is not expelled within half an hour after delivery and in all cases of doubt or difficulty the attendant must communicate at once with the Resident-Accoucheur No attendant must use any obstetric instrument ad- minister ergot of rye or chloroform or introduce his hand into the uterus without the sanction of the Resident-Ac- coucheur No attendant whether Regular or Non-regular can dissect or frequent the post-mortem theatre 10 No Regular attendant can hold the appointment of Surgeon's Dresser or Physician's Clerk The Clerks of the Physician-Accoucheur and all those holding Out-Patient appointments are exempted from this rule 11 Every attendant wishing to be temporarily off duty must arrange with the Resident-Accoucheur and submit to him the name of another properly qualified attendant who undertakes all responsibility during his absence 12 The Resident-Accoucheur has authority to suspend from duty any attendant infringing these rules but he must report such suspension to the Physician-Accoucheur within twenty-four hours 13 No Student will receive certificate for practical in- struction in Midwifery unless he has attended at least ten cases in connection with King's College Hospital 14 Regular attendants will receive special certificate
