62 נ applied sciences The Course of instruction includes minute description oi ail the substances entering into the composition of Rocks and of those minerals which are also used in the Arts illustrated by an extensive collection of characteristic specimens and diagrams of the principal crystalline forms &c 10 Geology Palaeontology and Mining For Students of the First Year Michaelmas and Lent Terms Π 30-12 30 Saturday This Course comprises about Twenty Lectures upon the principles of Geology and Pala ontology and is delivered with the view of preparing the Students of the First Year for the Advanced Course The examination on these Lectures will take place at the end of the Lent Term For Students of the Second Year Lent and Faster Terms -Tuesday 4-5 Thursday 3-4 Stratigraphical and Applied Geology This Course is attended by those Students who have had previous instruc- tion in the principles of Geology and it comprehends the Strategraphical Geology of the formations in which Mining Engineering is of importance The geology of the most important Colonies is taught and especial attention is paid to the mining districts of Canada and Australia Attention is paid to Agricultural Geology and the Course 13 essentially practical in its nature When possible the Students accompany the professor on geological excursions and visit museums 11 The Art and Scientific Principles of Photography The course of instruction in Photography is theoretical and practical in those branches which are deemed most generally useful to Students in the Department of Applied Sciences Special lessons are also given on new applications
