292 EVENING CLASSES It will be required that evidence shall be given of the possession of basis of General Education by each Student before he enters on tbe Technical Course Accordingly each Student must either pursue course of general education for one year comprising at least English Arithmetic or Elementary Mathematics Latin or one Modern Language and must pass satisfactory examination therein or must pass similar examination in any three of these subjects on his entering the Department When the Student has ftilfilled this condition the following Courses are suggested for his Technical Instruction If he be intended for the profession of the Law- English Literature and History Latin One Modern Language Public Reading and Speaking Law Commercial and International Law Political Economy If he be intended for the Civil Service at home or abroad- English Any two Modern Languages recognized in the Civil Service Examination Mathematics Logic International Law Political Economy If he intend to follow the Mercantile Profession as' Banker Merchant Shipowner Shipbroker Insurance Agent Accountant or Actuary- English French and German or any two Modern Languages Mathematics
