applied sciences 143 II SYLLABUS OF LECTURES Divinity Lectures are delivered by the Principal every Thursday generally on the Bible or Prayer Book There are tenni- nal examinations in the lectures and periodical examinations in Text-books chosen by the Principal Marks are given to the papers at these examinations according to merit and the students are classed at the close of the Michaelmas and Easter Terms On the last day of the academical year prizes are adjudged to the best Students in each year No Student can gain prize more than twice Any Student meriting prize third time will receive Certificate of Honor Pure Mathematics Hours of attendance Monday Wednesdav Thursday 10 20 to First Year 11 40 and Tuesday 11 45 to Monday Wednesday Thursday and Second Year lu5 to Tuesday 10 20 to 11 40 Wednesday inira ear Thursday and Friday 11 45 to Occasional Students can attend either or both of these courses every day from 10 20 to Saturday excepted The subjects for the First Year are-Euclid and 21 Propositions of Book 11 Algebra and Plane Trigone- metry and Mensuration For the Second Year Conic Sections and the Elements of the Differential and Integral Calculus In the Third Year Spherical Trigonometry the higher parts of the Differential and Integral Calculus and the Ele- ments of the Geometry of Three Dimensions The Students of each year are divided into four divisions according to proficiency and in these divisions they are arranged in order of merit at each examination
