106 general literature and science Marks are given to the papers at these examinations according to merit and the Students are classed at the close of the Michaelmas and Easter Terms On the last day of the Academical Year prizes are adjudged to the best Students in the various years No Student can take prize more than twice Any Student meriting prize third time will receive Certificate of Honor The Greek and Latin Classics For the Classical Division Lectures daily Saturday excepted from 10 20 to 11 40 55i 11 45 to and extra Lectures for those who are specially desirous of additional instruction from to on Tuesday and Thursday The subjects of these Lectures are the works of the best Latin and Greek writers and Greek and Latin Composition both in Prose and Verse Besides the work which is done in the Lecture Room the Students are expected to prepare given portion of Roman and Greek History for each College Examination as well as an additional Classical subject The Students are divided into four Divisions according to their proficiency and in these Divisions they are arranged in order of merit at each examination For the Modern Division Latin from to on Tuesday and Friday Subjects for Lectures 1875-76 The books appointed to be read for the Matriculation Examination at the University of London viz For January 1876 Cicero de Amicitid and Fro lege Manilla Xenophon Anabasis Book vi For June 1876 Horace Odes Books and ii Xenophon Anabasis Book ii
