ANNUAL REPORT pletion showing the interest felt in the Chapel and its services by members of the College and School The Council have next to report that at the suggestion of the Principal and the General Board they have arranged that the sons of members of the Academical Staff shall under few simple limitations and conditions be allowed to enter any department of the College or School on payment of half fees This arrangement necessitates relinquishment of fees by the Academical Staff and this relinquishment having been willingly made the Council are glad to meet it by corresponding sacrifice on the part of the College believing that the arrangement will be of considerable value to body of gentlemen to whom the Council are to their regret only able to oifer very moderate remuneration They have also to announce the commencement of an enterprise which if successful will be of much importance not only to the interests of King's College but to the higher education of the country The Principal and some members of the Academical Staff have suggested an affiliation of the College to the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge so that Associates of the College may under certain conditions be allowed to obtain degrees after shortened residence at the University and members of the University be allowed if they think fit to avail themselves of the advantages of the tech- nical Schools of King's College The Council approving the general idea requested the Principal and the Academical Staff to ascertain by conference with some leading members of both Universities whether there was any reasonable chance of the entertainment of such proposal This has been done with considerable success and the Council hope speedily to open negotiations with the governing bodies of the Universities with view to formal consideration of this important subject The Council have since the last Court added the following names to the list of Honorary fellows George Lawson Formerly Student now Surgeon to the Royal London Ophthalmic Hospital and to Middlesex Hospital
