MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 241 limited number of Students may have their names entered as Non-regular attendants in book kept by the Resident-Accoucheur who allots cases to them but preference in allotment will be given to the Regular attendants It is the duty of the Regular attendants and in their absence or engagement of the Non-regular attendants to go immediately on being summoned to all cases of labour occurring during their respective period of office Every Student will be held personally responsible for every case that has been consigned to him Every attendant must visit his patients for four con- secutive days after delivery and continue his attendance as frequently and as long as the urgency of the case may require Every attendant must fill up the patients card and deliver it to the Resident-Accoucheur within fortnight after labour When any deviation from normal labour or con- valescence occurs concise report must be sent in to the Resident-Accoucheur within fortnight after his cessation of attendance In cases of labour lasting more than six hours after rupture of the membranes in cases in which the pulse rises to 100 per minute in all cases of premature labour in cases in which the placenta is not expelled within half an hour after delivery and in all cases of doubt or difficulty the attendant must communicate at once with the Resident-Accoucheur No attendant must use any obstetric instrument ad- minister ergot of rye or chloroform or introduce his hand into the uterus without the sanction of the Resident-Ac- coucheur No attendant whether Regular or Non-regular can dissect or frequent the post-mortem theatre 10 No Regular attendant can hold the appointment of Surgeon's Dresser or Physician's Clerk The Clerks of the Physician-Accoucheur and all those holding Out-Patient appointments are exempted from this rule 11 Every attendant wishing to be temporarily off duty must arrange with the Resident-Accoucheur and submit to
