medical department 231 tenting both to the Dean of the Medical Department and to the Secretary of the Hospital If any Resident Medical Officer or his Assistant be pre- vented temporarily from attending to his duty he shall apply for leave of absence to the Committee in writing in sufficient time to enable them to consider the same at their next cnsu- ing meeting If the emergency of the case is so pressirg as to prevent this being done the reasons for which must be stated in the application the Secretary is authorized tc upon it and report it to the Committee at their next meeting Every such application shall state the name of the gentleman whom the applicant proposes shall supply his place and shall be initialed by the Physician or Surgeon of the day in token of his approval No Resident Medical Officer shall be absent from the Hos- pital at the same time as his corresponding Assistant except in tbe case of the Physician-Accoucheur's Assistant when summoned to Labour Attendance in the wards of the Resident Medical Officers shall commence at 30 and must terminate not later than 12 15 daily The evening visits of the Resident Medical Officers are in like manner to be so arranged that they shall be finished and the wards vacated not later than 10 The wards will be ready for their visit at 30 daily Each Resident Medical Officer shall enter his name and the hour of commencing and finishing his morning and evening visits in the book provided for that purpose which will be laid before the Committee weekly Each In-Patient Clinical Clerk and Dresser shall be in attendance at the Hospital and prepared to enter the wards not later than 30 or earlier if required by Resident Medical Officer under Rule The Clerks may attend one hour later on those days on which the Physician to whom they are attached does not visit the Hospital The Clerks and Dressers shall enter their names and the hour of their arrival in the book provided for that purpose and placed in the Hall This book will be laid before the Committee at
