ANNUAL REPORT 57 John Curnow Formerly Student now Demonstrator of Anatomy John Beswick Perrin Formerly Student late Demonstrator of Anatomy Alfred Goodwin Formerly Student Scholar of Balliol First Class in Classics 1872 Henry William Watkins Formerly Student Honours in Logic and Moral Philosophy University of London Brackenbury Theological Scholar Balliol College Oxford Two of the Members of the Council Messrs Richard Twining and Rickards have felt obliged to resign their seats in consequence of the pressure of other urgeut duties The Court will be invited to elect Mr Hubbard and Mr Bateman to fill the vacant places The Council trust that this portion of their statement will also be satisfactory to the Proprietors The large and increasing amount of work to be done by the College necessarily taxes its resources to the utmost prevents it from adequately remunerating its teachers and often hampers it considerably in respect of extensions and improvements which the Council would gladly make if they could rightly and prudently do so But in spite of all these difficulties the Council believe that the work is being done and will be done to the gieat benefit of the public and the maintenance of the sacred cause of Religious Education
