52 ANNUAL REPORT -The School has again continued to advance steadily both in numbers and in success The number of boys has risen from 439 to 456 the increase being found almost entirely in the Modern Department and the Lower School The discipline is reported by the Head Master as very satisfactory and he adds that the introduction of drilling as regular part of the work of the Lower School has conduced greatly to good order The list of distinctions gained by former pupils of the School is extremely satisfactory especially as the Council have the pleasure of being able to regard it as an indication of the careful teaching given and the good discipline maintained in the whole School by the Head Master and his Assistants Scallon Ε Open Exhibition at King's College Williams Foundation Scholarship and Prize for Mathematics at Queen's College Davis Open Mathematical Scholarship at Queen's College Ftffe Foundation Scholarship at Queen's College Davis Foundation Scholarship at Queen's College Bowoen Trinity Second Class in the Classical Tripos Hamblin Open Mathematical Scholarship at Christ's Buckmaster College Prize at Queen's Willcocks Open Exhibition at Exeter Moore Exeter Third Class in Law and Modern History -Cambridge College II -Oxford III -University of London Scott Honours at Matriculation Examination July 1871 Keess Arthur Snell Α Ε Tirard Ts Jude Η Honours at Matriculation Examination Jan 1872
