9S general literature and science Natural Philosophy For Junior Students the Classes meet at 11 45 on Mondays Wednesdays Thursdays and Fridays II For Senior Students the Classes meet at 10 20 on Mondays Wednesdays and Thursdays and again at on Thursdays Occasional Students can attend with either Class or they may attend the Experimental Lectures only on Mondays and Thursday at 11 45 and on Thursdays at The subjects of the Lectures in these classes are elementary and higher Mechanics Hydrostatics Pneumatics Heat and Light Electricity and Magnetism The Students of each year are divided into two divisions according to their proficiency and in these divisions are arranged in order of merit at each examination III For Third-year Students course of Demonstrations in the Physical Laboratory is given on Fridays from 10 20 to 11 45 Other Students are admitted to this Class as occa- sional Students Chemistry These Lectures are given to Students of the Modern Division on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 20 to 11 20 For the subjects of the course see 143 Biology and Physical Geology Michaelmas Lent and Easter Terms Saturday Hi-12$ These Lectnres are given in order to instruct the Students in the principles of Geology and to enable them to understand the theories of the day on Biological subjects The theories are explained and criticised and any new facts in Natural History are mentioned and their bearings upon theory are examined fossil form and its modern representative are demon- strated at the close of each lecture The lectures are illustrated by diagrams and specimens
