230 MEDICAL department In-Patient Dressers shall dress and register the cases admitted into the Hospital under the direction of the Surgeon or House Surgeon In every surgical case upon which post-mortem exami- nation is held the Dresser under whose care the patient has been shall immediately after the holding of such examination furnish an abstract of the case to the Pathological Registrar Each Dresser shall also furnish the Registrar with an abstract of every case under his care in which specimen is preserved for the purposes of the Museum Ophthalmic Dressers -There shall be three Ophthalmic Dressers elected by examination in Ophthalmic Medicine and Surgery They shall serve for six months attend regu- Iarly at the hours appointed and act under the direction of the Ophthalmic Surgeon House Surgeon -A Student shall not be elected to this office at period later than six years from the date of his Matriculation in the Medical Department He shall at the date at which his duties commence be Member of British College of Surgeons and shall have served to the satisfaction of the Surgeons the offices of Out and InPatient Dresser for the full period of six months each He shall previously to his appointment produce certificate of moral character to the satisfaction of the Committee of Management He shall before entering upon office pay the sum of 30 for board and lodging during his six months' residence in the Hospital The viva voce examination shall be chiefly in Anatomy and the application of Surgical Apparatus Bandages &c the written examination in Surgery and Materia Medica including Toxicology The House Surgeon shall visit the surgical wards daily between ten and twelve accompany the Surgeon during his visit and prescribe under his direction shall see such patients in the evening as he may think necessary and shall be responsible for the proper management and dressing of all the surgical cases The instruments and surgical apparatus shall be in his charge and he shall make Monthly Report
