210 MEDICAL DEPARTMENT The subjects for Examination for the Scholarships to be given in October 1872 will be as follows Divinity Old Testament History from Abraham to Solomon The Gospel according to St Luke in Greek The Prayer Book-Its general History and structure Proctor on the Book of Common Prayer recommended The Greek and Latin Classics -Xenophon Memorabilia Book II Ovid Metamorphoses Book XV and Epistolse ex Ponto Book II English Language and History -Shakespeare Henry VIII English History of the Tudor Period Mathematics -Arithmetic Algebra as far as and in- eluding Quadratic Equations Euclid Book Book II ex- cept Props 10 Book III The Modern Languages -French Racine Athalie German Goethe's Egmont Buchheim's Edition Clarendon Press Series Warneford Scholarships -Class II Far the Encouragement of Resident Medical Students One Scholarship is awarded at the close of each Summer Session of the value of Ā£25 per annum to be held for two years subject to the provisions hereafter stated This Scholarship is open to all Second Year Matriculated Students of the Medical Department being also perpetual Pupils of the Hospital who during At least Six Months of their First Academical Year and 'have The whole of their Second Academical Year resided within the limits of the College and who shall pro- duce to the Principal the following certificates viz of good conduct from the Censor of regular attendance on the Divinity Lectures and of satisfactory attention to the regular Medical studies from the Dean of the Department
