MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 197 his career propose the following Course for his guidance in the prosecution of his studies The Professors strongly recommend that four years should be spent in attending the Course of Instruction at the College and Hospital Although period of three years is sufficient to complete the attendance on the Courses of Lectures and Hospital Practice prescribed by the College of Physicians the College of Surgeons and the Society of Apothecaries yet Student will derive great advantage from extending the period of study at King's College to four years particularly as the Examining Bodies including the University of London require that Candidates before presenting themselves for the final examination for their Diploma shall have been engaged four years in the acquirement of professional knowledge after having passed their preliminary Examination in Arts The following is the order in which Students intending to pursue their Medical studies during four years are advised to attend the several Courses of Lectures given in the College The Courses additional to those required by the several examiningbodies are distinguished by italics "Descriptive Anatomy ן First Winter and Dissections Session Physiology VChemistry First Summer fBotany and Vegetable ן Physiology Materia Medica Practical Chemistry Practical Physiology or in Surgical Practice of the Hospital the following Winter See-
