52 annual report worthily sustained by the hands to which it is now sur- rendered The Council have also to announce that partly in con- nexion with these changes some reconstruction of the arrangements for Clinical teaching at the Hospital is now under consideration and will be carried out during the ensuing year They feel confident that it will tend to main- tain and increase the efficiency of this most important branch of Medical Study King's College Hospital must always claim an important place in connexion with the Medical School The Council have great pleasure in announcing that the Committee of Management see their way to the enlargement of the Building on plan which will complete the system of the wards and give full accommodation to the resident officers of the Institution The incomplete state of the building has long interfered with its usefulness they cannot doubt that the removal of this obstacle will be of the greatest possible service &-The Evening Classes Department has increased the number both in its Matriculated and Occasional Students The new organization of the educational staff of the Depart- ment has proved highly beneficial and the introduction of the grouping of Classes referred to in the last Report has been successfully carried out Schemes of instruction have been drawn up with view to the preparation of Students for the Law the Civil Service the Mercantile occupations Chemical Manufactures Engineering and Architecture Special Di- plomas will be granted to Students who pass each course satisfactorily and special prizes given to such as pass with distinction The Council would regret to interfere in any way with the freedom and energy of department which has already achieved such great results but they believe that by the direction given in these special courses desultoriness will be avoided and the instruction made even more efficient and valuable than before
