medical department 183 nation of the more important Metallic Ores as those of Iron Lead Copper Tin Silver Cobalt and Nickel-the Analysis of Coal-Building-stones &c and the various modifications of Organic Anal- Agric --- 'hi comprH ×™ ×— the examinations of Soils Ma ur rid the Saline and Organic Constituents of Plants Processes of Manufacturing Art involving also an exami- nation as well of Lhe products of art as of the crude materials produced by the Vegetable Kingdom such as colouring matters drugs and dye-stuffs and Physiological Chemistry with the examination as well of healthy as of morbid products and secretions both by the microscope and by reagents The particular plan of study followed by each Student will depend on the objects he may have in view He will be encouraged when sufficiently advanced to prosecute new in- quiries and to simplify the processes now in use Gentlemen may enter for longer or shorter time as may suit their leisure at any period of the year except during the long Vacation and at an expense proportionate to the time of their stay In addition to the Laboratory Fee each Student defrays the expenses of his own experiments the amount of this ex- pense which is comparatively trifling is entirely under his own control Every table is furnished with cupboard under lock and key and deposit of 10s 6d is made by each Pupil on first erceiving possession The Laboratory opens the first week in October and closes in the middle of July with vacation of fortnight at Christmas and week at Easter Hours of attendance daily from 10 till except on Saturday when the Laboratory closes at The Daniell Scholarship is awarded once in every two years for researches conducted in the Laboratory See page 212
