160 APPLIED SCIENCES IX Engineering Society Patrons the rev the principal adams esq rev drew kerr esq rev cock tennant esq rev heywood glenny esq miller esq thomas bradley esq shelley esq This Society was formed in the Lent Term 1847 by the Students in the Applied Sciences Department for the pur- pose of reading papers on Scientific subjects and discussing questions thus brought forward For this purpose meetings are held every Friday afternoon during Term Scientific Periodicals and books on Engineering subjects are taken in for the use of Members of the Society The Officers are elected terminally Matriculated Students alone being eligible On joining the Society each Member signs his name to declaration that he will conform strictly to any rules and regulations which may be made-from time to time for the good of the Society The Expenses of the Society are defrayed by Subscription of 2s 6d per Term from each Member Gentlemen wishing to join are requested to communicate with the Honorary Secretary of the Society Museum of King George the Third Her Majesty the Queen having been graciously pleased to confer upon King's College the valuable Collection of Me- chanical Models and Philosophical Instruments formed by His Majesty King George the Third suitable room has been fitted up for its reception Extensive additions have been made to this Museum by th Council and by the donations of private individuals This Museum is under the charge of the Professors of Natural Philosophy Chemistry and Manufacturing Art
