general literature and science 109 XIII debating and literary society Patron-The Rev the Principal Vice-Patron-Rev Prof Brewer The Members of tbis Society meet every Wednesday to discuss literary political and historical subjects and every alternate Saturday to read the works of Shakspeare and other English authors They also hold terminal Evening Discussion The questions for discussion are submitted for the sanction of the Principal The Society is open to the Students of all Departments of the College The affairs of the Society are conducted by Committee of Officers chosen at General Meeting of the Members at the end of each Term The Society also gives at the conclusion of the Easter Term Certificates to tbe best Speaker and Reader of the year The Subscription consists of an entrance fee of Two Shil- lings and Sixpence and payment of Three Shillings and Sixpence per Term Gentlemen who have left the College or become Associates after having been Members of the Society for two or more Terms are eligible for Election as Honorary Members Students who are desirous of oining the Society are requested to give their names to tbe Secretaries XIV ORIENTAL SECTION The object of tbis Section is to meet the wants of Candidates for the Indian Civil Service particularly those selected for "the further examination
