388 honorary fellows HONORARY FELLOWSHIPS The rank of Honorary Fellow of King's College London was first established February 19 1847 and is granted To former Students of the College or School who have conferred honour on King's College by their after-acquired distinctions The number of former Students so elected is not to exceed sixty at any one time To those who have served offices in the College or School and have materially benefited King's College by their services Candidates for this distinction must themselves or by the Head of the Department in which they studied at the College communicate their wishes together with statement of their claims and qualifications to the Secretary of the College in writing on or before May in each year and the Council will take all such applications into their consideration at some one of their meetings before the close of the Academical year names of honorary fellows John Allen formerly Chaplain and Mathematical Tutor now Archdeacon of Salop and Examin- ing Chaplain to the Lord Bishop of Lichfield Henry Moseley formerly Chaplain and Professor of Natural Philosophy now Canon of Bristol and Member of the Council of Military Education James Edwin Thorold Rogers formerly Student now Tooke Professor of Economic Science and Statistics First Class Oxford 1846 Herbert Edwardes late Colonel in the Hon East India Company's service 1st Bengal Cavalry Vrthur Cayley formerly Student Senior Wrangler 1842 Fellow of Trinity CoUege Cambridge
