01 general literature and science The examination in Classics will be in passages to be translated from Standard Greek and Latin authors and in Composition in the Greek and Latin languages The regular work of the Term will begin on Thursday October Thursday January 23 and Tuesday April 21 on which days all old Students are required to be present at Chapel at 10 unless special leave of absence is obtained beforehand from the Principal The Students received into this Department are- Matriculated Students or those admitted to the regular and full prescribed course of study Each Candidate for Matriculation must produce testi- monial of good character from his last instructor and when admitted by the Principal must subscribe his name to declaration that he will conform to all the rules and regula- tions which may from time to time be prescribed for the good government of the College under the sanction and authority of the Council Special Certificate is required in the case of Pupils coming up from the School See page 340 Matriculated Students are required to attend regularly the College Chapel and the Divinity Lectures by the Principal and Chaplain they must wear the Academical cap and gown within the precincts of the College and they are expected to attend Lectures with perfect regularity Leave of absence can be obtained from the Principal alone and in cases of sickness or other unavoidable cause of non-attendance at the College written notice is to be sent by the parent guardian or medical attendant to the Secretary Exemption from attendance on any particular subject of Lecture can be obtained only from the Principal An appli- cation must in every case be addressed to him by the Parent or Guardian of the Student upon form to be obtained in the Secretary's Office ×™ Exceptby the special permission of the Principal no one is ad- mitted Student of this Department under sixteen years of age The regular Course of Instruction in this Department carries the Student through three Academical Years Each Year con-
