332 THE SCHOOL The Upper consists of the four highest Classes in the Classical and the six highest in the Modern Department and the Course has special reference to the subjects required in the Examinations for Matriculation in the University of Lon- don and for the Science Scholarships" at Oxford and Cambridge The Lower Section consists of the four junior Classes in both Departments and while the Lectures are of much more elementary character care is taken tbat each Pupil is able to give fair account of them Section IV mathematics-arithmetic The following is the progressive course of Mathematical and Arithmetical study applicable to both Divisions of the School Algebra Division -Addition Subtraction Multiplication and Di- vision Division -Division Evolution Fractions Simple Equa- tions Division -Simple Equations Surds Greatest Common Measure Least Common Multiple Division -Simple and Quadratic Equations Problems Divisions -Equations Problems Ratio and Proportion Binomial Surds Division -Equations Series Problems in Equations and Progressions Division -Equations Problems Binomial Theorem and Combinations Indeterminate Equations Division -General Algebra Trigonometry Division -General Algebra Differential Calculus Conic Sections
